So, What’s Your Story?
I was asked that question by a co-worker this morning who I recently learned is a born-again Christian. And what was my response to him? Well, I didn’t have one… Ouch.
I’ve been a believer for almost 30 years, but it was suddenly obvious that because I’ve kept my faith locked up in this private little box for so long, my witness has gotten rusty. Maybe I never had it ready to share to begin with. What if it had been a non-believer asking me that question? Would I have been able to share with them why I’m confident in the grace and mercy that I’ve come to know through God’s gift of salvation and why I know it to be true? I seriously doubt it.
Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. 1 Peter 3:15 – NLT
I plan to work on this as a first order of business. But I wonder, how many who profess to be believers themselves are in the exact same position I am?
If you’re a believer, would you be able to give a convincing testimony if someone asked? As a non-believer, how would you react to a wishy-washy, half-mumbled reply to your question of “So, what’s your story?”
